Fogo de artifício - São João, Porto 2012
Perfection...couldn't be better!
Sao Joao do Porto is the biggest event in Porto. Thousands of people on the streets with lots of hammers, sweets, beer, good music and unforgettable firework. The funniest part of the festival was that everyone gets to hit each other on the head with plastic hammer. This will bring lots of luck in next year. I was hit on the heat so many times, that I will have enough luck for the next five years :) Plastic hammers replaced an old tradition of using a garlic stem that represented wishing people good luck.
Sao Joao will always stay in mine mind as time, when streets are filled with colour, full of tradition and joy.
...The best part of the evening began at midnight. The firework was over head and spectacular, I wished my eyes were bigger that I could take it all in at once...It's funny how sometimes someone you don't know in one sentence can tell the whole point of your life in last half a year.
Porto, city where all dreams come true!

Nujno poskusiti!!
Recept:
Vse sva delali po občutku in sva za pladenj [cca 4 osebe] uporabili:
- riž
- 4 banane
- rozine
- 3 jajca
- mleko
- sladkor
- sol
- sladkor burbnske vanilije
- 1/2 limone
Najprej sva v mleku skuhali riž in vse skupaj malo solili. Medtem ko se je riž hladil sva ločili jajca in posebaj stepli beljake in rumenjake. S paličnim mešalnikom sva zmiksali banane, dodali malo mleka in pol limone.
Rumenjakom sva dodali malo sladkorja in burbonsko vanilijo ter zmes vmešali z rižem. Dodali sva še stepene beljake in rozine.
Pečico nastavili za 180° in čez 20 minut ob gledanju nadaljevanke pojedli najboljši rižev narastek do tega trenutka :)
Nujno poskusiti!!

Festa de São João do Porto
Immigrants? Mhmm, Tadeja nod to random guy on metro while he was touching our Sao Joao plant. We were laughing and figured out that we advance up the scale :P At the beginning we were foreigners, now we are immigrants, what's next? Locals? :) Maybe when we'll speak Portuguese fluently :)

Every year, on the night of 23rd June, the city of Porto, in the north of Portugal, becomes lively and seemingly crazy. Thousands of people come to the city centre and to the most traditional neighborhoods to pay a tribute to Saint John the Baptist, in a party that mixes sacred and profane traditions.
The festivities have been held in the city for more than six centuries, yet it was during the 19th century that Saint John's day became impregnated in the city's culture and assumed the status of the city's most important festival.
In June 2004, a journalist from The Guardian commented that "Porto's Festa de São João is one of Europe's liveliest street festivals, yet it is relatively unknown outside the country".
In fact, the party starts early in the evening of 23 June and usually lasts until the morning of 24 June. The traditional attractions of the night include street concerts, popular dancing parties, jumping over flames, eating barbecued sardines and meat, drinking wine and releasing illuminated flame-propelled balloons over Porto's summer sky.
At midnight the partygoers make a short break to look at the sky at Saint John's firework spectacle. The show is increasingly sophisticated with the fireworks being associated with themes and multimedia shows. The party has sacred roots but is also mixed with pagan traditions, with the fireworks embodying the spirit of tribute to the Sun.
One could expect the firework to be the climax and mark the end of the festivities. Yet, it is quite common for citizens of Porto, with all ages, to keep celebrating until 3 or 4 in the morning. Younger people take it even a step further. They walk from Porto's riverside core - Ribeira (for instance the parish of São Nicolau (Porto)- up to the seaside in Foz (parishes of Foz do Douro and Nevogilde (Porto) or in the nearby suburb of Matosinhos where they wait for the sunrise near the sea. ESN PORTO wOrLd ErAsMuS goodbye PaRtY...
Now, this is not the time or the place for a broken hearted
Cause this is the end of the rainbow
Where no one can be too sad
No, I don't wanna leave but I must keep moving ahead
Cause my life belongs to the other side
Behind the great ocean's waves.
Bye, bye Porto I'm gonna
miss you wherever I go I'm gonna
come back to walk these streets again
Bye, bye Porto forever.
Cause this is the end of the rainbow
Where no one can be too sad
No, I don't wanna leave but I must keep moving ahead
Cause my life belongs to the other side
Behind the great ocean's waves.
Bye, bye Porto I'm gonna
miss you wherever I go I'm gonna
come back to walk these streets again
Bye, bye Porto forever.
Thank you for the morning walks on the sweet sunset
And for the hot night moments
For the fantasy in my bed
I take a part of you with me now and you won't get it back
And a part of me will stay here, you can keep it forever, dear.

Goodbyes
It's always hard to say goodbye. There are moments, hours, days in our life which stay forever...One of these days was yesterday. We spent day with our Slovakian friends. We started day with francesinha in their favourite restaurant. It follows a perfect day at the beach. Soaking in water, laughing all the afternoon, talking, playing volleyball,... I didn't feel so bad till the sun went down. Žiga started to play "wind of change" on his guitar, sun was going down and seagulls were flaying to the port. Idyllic Moment, which could last forever.
Zus came to me and we started talking about life. I knew that with lightning speed approaching their time of departure...and it started...crying, thinking about the memories and friendship. Sad sound of guitar made even more tears...
We continued our evening in 77, in Radio club and Tendinha. Tears were running in streams, so it was even harder to say goodbye. It was already day, when we went out from Tendinha. We were sitting at the front, crying and hugging each other.
...Good memories will remain forever! Zus, Sendy I will never forget you!
Now, we're going to Madeira to create new memories...
